Maritime Logistics & Supply Chain Management

Seminar over 2 days carried out at BI, Nydalen 9th and 10th of September 2009.

Seminar objectives

The seminar focuses on globalization of markets and the fact that competition goes in the direction of competition between major supply chains. The maritime industries are forced to integrate with selected supply chains. As such, the industries are undergoing major shifts. Ship-owners move from being traditional vessel operators, towards global streamlined, cost effective logistics companies, integrated with their customers’ supply chains. This concerns the maritime industries and their willingness to integrate with their supply chain partners, the present and future.     The seminar participants will be introduced to tools and frameworks to understand co-modal logistics and challenges related to:

  • Logistics Strategies in the highly competitive global markets.
  • Project Management, a pre-requisite to plan, organize and implement new or improved supply chain
  • Process Improvement tools relevant to intermodal logistics
  • Maritime Law and Insurance
  • Introduction to Logistics Management IT systems
  • Supply Chain and Network optimization
