Use of digital information resources
The BI Library provides access to electronic information resources, such as journal collections, books, databases, etc. These resources are exclusively for BI’s faculty and students. Any communication of access information to outsiders is prohibited.
Loan conditions
Before using the library resources, our students must observe and accept the following regulations:
- Violation of the library regulations may deprive the student of the right to borrow material from the library and make use of other library services.
- Loss of your student card must immediately be reported to the library, in order to prevent abuse.
- Borrowers are personally responsible for borrowed material.
- No borrower may take outside of Norway any document belonging to the library.
- The borrower is obliged to update information such as name, e-mail address, private address, Norwegian address and telephone number in banner studentweb.
- The standard loan period for books is 14 days. Borrowers are obliged to respond immediately to overdue notices, either by returning the document, or renewal of loans in BIBSYS Ask.
- Journals, newspapers and reference books can not be borrowed. Books borrowed from the one day loan collection must be returned within the same day.
- Reserved books/books on hold must be collected within 7 days. Information regarding availability is sent by e-mail/sms.
- Requests for loans/copies from other libraries can be made in the Library, or sent through BIBSYS Ask. Be aware that some services are not free. See our price list.
- Fines will be given for late returns. Loss or destruction of borrowed material carries liability for compensation. Claim for compensation will be issued after third overdue notice. If compensation is not received, the debt will be forwarded on to a debt collection agency. We do not give any refunds for lost literature already paid for, even if the literature is returned to the library.
The students must also observe BI's college policies and regulations.
