The Department of Strategy and Logistics conducts research and education in business school topics that are relevant in many of the key industries in Norway. The aim of the research on industrial competitiveness is to help highlight the various industries' impact on the Norwegian economy and the opportunities and challenges related to value creation in some of Norway's key industries.

Endowed professorships

The Department of Strategy and Logistics has two endowed professorships sponsored by the business community. Endowed professorships strengthen BI's contact with leading players in Norwegian business and industry, and have resulted in several relevant business programmes and research projects for the companies involved.

  • Shipowner Tom Wilhelmsen's Foundation Chair – Professor Torger Reve.
The endowed professorship provides an opportunity to generate new knowledge about the maritime industry and is therefore an important inspiration for improving both research and teaching at BI in a field that is very important for Norway's future economic development.
  • Telenor Chair of International Strategy and Management – Professor Øystein Fjeldstad.
The professorship's topic, culturally conditioned innovation, focuses on how technological advances can be translated into constructive community building in countries with different cultures.

Bachelor's and master's studies, executive education and doctoral programme

The Department has courses at the bachelor's, master's and doctoral levels, as well as the experience-based continuing education market. Our faculty has extensive experience in teaching future executives enrolled in our MBA and Master of Management courses at BI and at recognised partner institutions overseas, such as Fudan University in Shanghai and Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
