Coporate governance is a research and teaching focus under both the departments of finance and innovation and economic organisation. Professor Øyvind Bøhren and Bernt Arne Ødegård in finance and professor Morten Huse in governance are central contributors to this research area.
CR and partnerships
The focus area CSR and Public & private partnerships, at the BI Norwegian Business School explores models for collaboration between private and public actors which can be of mutual benefit. Atle Midttun have contributed to this work.
Researchers at BI have also been involved with UN’s Global Compact initiative as well as with World Bank initiatives in this field.
Current research projects also focus on business and NGO partnerships. Caroline D. Ditlev-Simonsen is working on research on this field.
Environmental issues
Environmental policy and strategy is a central research topic under several departments at the NMS. Associate professor Bjarne E. Ytterhus, professor Jørgen Randers and professor Atle Midttun are central contributors to this research area.
CR and multicriteria decision making
Research focused on the challenges of multicriteria decision making, and how to design measurement- and decision-systems to integrate traditional
efficiency issues with new “soft” issues are central topics under the department of strategy. Professor Fred Wenstøp is a central contributor to this field.

CR and communication is a central focus area under the department of communication. Associate professor Peggy Brønn is a central contributor
to this research area.
SRI, Socially responsible investments
SRI is also a topic under the department of innovation and economic organization. Jan Olaf Willums, senior visiting fellow with the Centre for
Corporate Citizenship is engaged in research projects in this area.
