Centre for Experience Economy

Objective

The centre's objective is to develop knowledge in the field of experience economy through research, teaching and active collaboration with business and industry, the political authorities and special interest organisations.

Research

There are many research communities in Norway working in the field of experience economy. The centre's activities are characterised by being established by a business school. The centre conducts research mainly in management and marketing related to companies and society. Tourism is given particular attention, based on the fact that there already is a teaching and research community in this field at BI.

Teaching

The centre has a natural affiliation with the Bachelor programme in tourism that has existed at BI since 1992. Research is also applied in other contexts; for example as the basis for developing courses and teaching, partly in BI's exisiting course portfolio and as a basis for customised courses for the industry.

Communication

Publications in international periodicals are one of many forms of delivery from the centre. Other deliveries are:

  • Presentations in national arenas, like The Future of Tourism and other important conferences for business managers and researchers
  • Conducting workshops and seminars for academics and practitioners
  • Presentations of research at international confererences
  • Lectures at BI and other national/international forums
  • Partcipation in national and international networks
  • Popular science contributions, memos and presentations of results of sub projects through information channels and arenas of the industry
