The Centre for Technology Strategy (CTS) does research of interest to companies in the high-tech sector - that is, companies for whom technology evolution heavily influences strategy. CTS aims to be a meeting place for business, education and research into technology evolution, business strategy and technology leadership.

Centre for Technology Strategy

Constantly evolving technology influences a company's business environment, both in terms of new opportunities and new threats. Business strategy is developed to take advantage of or counter changes in the business environment. If top management has a good understanding of technology and how technology changes, it can develop its strategy in advance of changes in the business environment.

The Centre for Technology Strategy, started in 2007, aims to help top managers understand technology and exploit it to facilitate, rather than respond to, changes in the business environment. This involves developing and testing theory on how new technology changes business environments, gathering qualitative and quantitative data to analyze, and undertaking efforts to make its findings public.

CTS involves researchers from the BI Norwegian Business School as well as international institutions. Through its (currently) main project, iAD, it pursues research with the industrial partners FAST, Accenture and DNV to understand the disruptive impact of search and other advanced information access technologies. Other projects include participation in the Netpower project, hosted by Sintef and Devoteam Davinci, as well as participation in the project A Knowledge-based Norway.
