Wireless Network for Students

All students at BI have network and internet access through the following wireless network:

  • Network Name (SSID): BI-wifi
  • Logon with standard username and password.

You will only have to configure and logon once on this network until you change your password.

Automatic configuration

Most operating systems will configure the wireless network automatically. Windows 7, new Linux distros and most products from Apple will configure automatically.

Some versions of Windows Vista and Windows 7 requires confiugration. Download the automatic configuration of the BI-Wifi profile here: BI-Wifi.exe

If you need help, please contact your local IT-advisor. If you still have problems connecting, after trying the manual configuratino, you can try the guest network (se below).

Manual Configuration

Nettverksnavn (SSID): "BI-Wifi"
Security type: WPA2-Enterprise (WPA2 with 802.1x)
Encryption type: AES
Network Authentication Method: Protected EAP (PEAP)
Authentication Mode: EAP-MSCHAP v2

Wireless Network for Guests

This network can be used as an alternative for users who cannot configure BI-wifi. Username and passwords for guests are available at the front desk. If you are idle for more than 30 minutes, you will have to logon again. We recommend students to use BI-wifi.

The network name is:

  • BI-guest

This wireless network is encrypted with WPA2. After logon a private encryption key is shared between you and the wifi spot. Before you get a private encryption key you have to provide the following shared encryption key/password:

  • guestnetwork

After a connection is established you need to authorize through a standard browser with your username (s012345) and PIN (xxxxxx). This is to ensure that you are a BI-student
