What will you learn?
Most executives view communication as critical for their organizations, but are unclear about the role communication plays beyond news and events. Communication professionals, on the other hand, often perceive their own role in the management group as more significant than executives do. Against this background, it is important for both general managers and communicators to get a comprehensive understanding of communication's contributions to organizational goals.
In this seminar, you will learn about a new framework that helps to explain various strategic and operational contributions and what this means for the daily life of communication professionals. We will discuss typical contributions of communication where participants are invited to share their experiences. The new framework will be explained and illustrated with examples. Consequences for the personal roles of communication professionals will be discussed and elaborated in an interactive session. Last, we will reflect on the collaboration between communication leaders and general managers: how to express and align expectations, and how to jointly leverage the full potential of communication for organizational success.
The seminar will be held in English. Reading material will be provided.
The seminar gives you a flavor of BI's new upscale executive program "Corporate Communication for Leaders" starting in September 2017 (five modules over one year). It can be booked as a certificate program to enhance your knowledge as you build your career in communications or general management, or as part of a master of management program.
