Simula@BI: Economic Data Science is all you need: evaluating UK policies and more with text analysis

In this talk, Dr. Arthur Turrell, will take you on an exciting tour of the emerging field of economic data science through applications of text analysis to i) an evaluation of gender pay gap transparency legislation; ii) policies and iii) macroeconomic forecasting. 

Dr. Arthur Turrell is the Deputy Director of the UK´s Data Science Campus, and he will also talk about their work with using data science for the public good. This includes how an angry tweet led to an analysis of budget sausages being featured on national TV. If there is time, he will also talk about the most important reaction in all of time and space - nuclear fusion.
