The UN sustainable development goals set a range of ambitious targets that highlight key objectives and directions for societies, economies and business by 2030.

Devastating extreme weather has brought climate change to every part of the world this summer, including Norway. Businesses need to accommodate new regulatory frameworks, the economy going circular, and changing expectations from all stakeholders. Many small and entrepreneurial businesses are now actively seeking to grow and make a positive impact on society. All over the world, social and environmental entrepreneurs are creating innovative business models, creating positive impact and challenging traditional ideas about how business should be structured and function in society. We ask; how are entrepreneurs currently approaching these challenges? How can they become more impactful? And how can society, investors, universities, and business schools support more impactful entrepreneurship?

This event, co-hosted by @Rethinking Economics and @Impact Startup will feature talks on what we can learn from such entrepreneurial ventures and what kind of change can be inspired. It will also provide practical advice for current and potential entrepreneurs, as well as a panel discussion among students, entrepreneurs, and investors. During the panel, we ask what it means to have an impact as a startup. How should entrepreneurs think about making a societal impact? And how do we avoid impact- and SDG-washing?

What you can expect

The event will feature inspiring keynotes from theory and practice, practical advice for current and potential entrepreneurs, as well as discussions and Q&A. During the panel we will ask what it means to have an impact as a startup, how should entrepreneurs think about making a societal impact. And how do we avoid ‘impact washing’?

When business as usual is not an option anymore, how do we rethink entrepreneurship?
