About Kjell Aamot
Appointed CEO of Schibsted ASA in 1989.Kjell Aamot has long experience of the media industry, firstly from 1977 to 1985 as the CFO of Verdens Gang (VG) and then from 1985 to 1989 as VG’s CEO.
Aamot started his career in Dyno. He is the chairman of the board of Schibsted Forlag AS, Schibsted Print Media AS, Metronome AS and Schibsted Multimedia AS and Metronome AS. He is also a board member of 20 Min Holding and Schibsted Eiendom AS. He is a deputy member of the board i Verdens Gang. He has previously been the chairman of the board of the Norwegian Newspaper Publishers’ Association (NAL) - now MBL (1991-95), Aftenposten and Verdens Gang, and also been a director of TV2 AS, SBS (Scandinavian Broadcasting System) and Nordea AB in addition to a number of internal Schibsted boards. He has a Master’s degree in business economics from the Norwegian School of Management (BI) (1973).
Schibsted is a Scandinavian media group with around 9 000 employees and operations in 21 countries. Their domestic markets are Norway and Sweden, but the Group also has companies in Denmark, Finland, France, Spain, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Austria, Italy, Belgium, Portugal, Russia, Slovenia, Singapore, Malaysia and four countries in Latin-America. Schibsted currently have a presence in the newspaper, TV, film, online, mobile-phone, book and magazine media. The turnover in 2007 was NOK 13.6 billion.
