Record high number of applicants to BI

19 April 2010

The number of applications to study at the BI Norwegian Business School increased by 10% compared to last year. International applicants increases by 20%.

8871 students applied for studies at BI Norwegian Business School against 8056 at the same time last year. This means 815 more applicants.

Tom Colbjørnsen, President of BI Norwegian Business School, is extremely pleased with the application figures, and puts it down to a combination of a good labour market and an increase in the number of applicants about to embark on tertiary studies.

“According to Statistics in Norway, the demand for business administration qualifications will grow in the years ahead. Even after the onset of the financial crisis, the annual labour market survey shows that 96% of all the school’s students with master’s degrees or business and economics degrees have found a job within six months of completing their studies. Our wage trends are also positive,” says the President. “All the signs indicate that graduates from BI will find exciting jobs after their studies. It is pleasing to see that so many are now applying to take higher education and that so many of them are applying to BI.”

International students

In total, the number of international students applying to the BI Norwegian Business School has risen by more than 20%. At the master's degree level, the BI Norwegian Business School has received double the number of applicants compared with the same period last year. The master programmes in strategic marketing management and accounting and auditing have had the largest percentage increase in the number of international applicants.
