BI-students won international competition

Four Master-students from BI Norwegian Business School won the first Rotman European Trading Competition in Rome this fall.

The case competition was held at LUISS Guido Carli Universtity in Rome and assembled teams of Master of Science students from 26 universities and business schools from Europe. The completion consisted of two full days of simulated tradion in five different markets environment.

The BI team included Kenneth Østnes, Ioana Bouariu, Christian Einvik and Håkon Hatlevik, and they won the overall completion by being the team that most consistently performed among the best in the five simulated markets. They achieved 22 points in the competition.

Kevin Mak the manager and organizer for the case comeptition is impressed with the students' skills.

 - The team from BI Norwegian Business School have accomplished a significant feat by finishing first across a field of 26 teams from leading schools all across Europe.  The competition’s scoring mechanism is rigorously designed to reward trading skill and consistency of profits.  Their outstanding achievement is a testament to their grasp of financial trading and risk management concepts.

The primary goal of the competition was to give students the opportunity to apply their classroom knowledge to actual markets.

The BI-team was guided by Professor Bruno Gerard Janis Berzins at BI Norwegian Business School.
