Effective from 30 June 2013, Avantor AS has terminated the BI student parking spaces in the parking garage underneath the BI building, as is permitted under our agreement. From this date, there will be no free student parking spaces in the BI building. To make up for them, Avantor AS will establish 180 discounted spaces in the area east of the BI building in Sandakerveien, in the open area over the metro (T-bane) line. Although these spaces are not reserved for BI students, Avantor believes the public will prefer other parking spaces in the area. BI students may also park, on commercial terms, in the parking garage underneath Campus Nydalen.
Annual contribution for student activities
Avantor AS will make an annual contribution to BI as a compensation for the loss of the free parking spaces. BI is currently involved in a dialogue with the SBIO board to discuss student activities these funds may be used for. President of SBIO, Christophe Cunen-Classens, is very pleased with the arrangement.
“We look forward to entering into a dialogue with BI regarding specific welfare measures these funds will be used for,” says SBIO President Christophe Classens.
Chief Financial Officer Marius Eriksen stresses that the students will be compensated in the form of additional welfare perks.
“We want these available funds to benefit the students, and around NOK two million should be earmarked cafeteria operations in the D block and other measures.”
More space for students
A new student zone will be ready in D1 at the beginning of October. The area will include more workspace for students and new facilities for SBIO. This means that a large space has been allocated to a new 24/7 zone. This is located in the façade, where daylight is ample and will contribute to an improved study environment.
The design of the zone for management, academic societies, committees and other bodies of the SBIO is intended to prepare students for working life. Because of this, the zone will have open and transparent solutions, including creative zones and group workstations. The cafeteria will be a licensed social gathering point. It will also be used as an informal venue for study management and networking during daytime as well as evenings. BI Norwegian Business School is investing significantly in order to offer its students the very best facilities.
