Welcome to BI Norwegian Business School

13 August 2014

The President of BI Norwegian Business School, Inge-Jan Henjesand, welcomes you to BI.

It is my great pleasure to welcome all new and old students to a new academic year at BI Norwegian Business School. We who work here are extremely proud that you have chosen to build a foundation for your future here at our school.

All of the staff here at BI Norwegian Business School share a common goal. We want to make sure that a BI diploma is a solid asset in a labour market that will demand more knowledge and become more global in the future. This spring, BI Norwegian Business School achieved the status of "Triple Crown School". With the accreditations from AACSB (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), EQUIS (European Quality Improvement Systems) and AMBA (The Association of MBAs), BI Norwegian Business School has joined the exclusive company of some of the world's leading business schools.

For you as a student, this means that a diploma from BI Norwegian Business School represents an even stronger guarantee of the quality of the education and the skills you have acquired, both on an international and national level.

At BI Norwegian Business School, we provide education based on the most recent, state-of-the-art research. We also maintain a close relationship with commerce and industry to ensure that the education we provide is relevant for business life going forward. All studies show that a diploma from BI Norwegian Business School makes you very attractive in the labour market.

Our pledge to you is to provide you with the professional standing you need to work in your chosen field. Your pledge to yourself must be to work diligently with the subjects in your curriculum. As we all know, there are no shortcuts to knowledge. We also highly recommend that you take advantage of our mastering study skills course. If I were a student, this would be one of the first courses I would attend.

Then, after you have established good study habits, a multitude of opportunities await you. My advice is to embrace whatever suits you best - with open arms! Become an active member of the Student Union, join an exchange programme or take internship as an elective subject. If you dare to challenge yourself, you are sure to gain an abundance of exciting, and certainly useful, experiences. Experiences that will make you stand out when you enter the workforce in a few years' time.

Throughout your period of study, you will also make many valuable friendships. Many of the people you see around you right now and during your years as a student at BI Norwegian Business School, will become and remain your friends and contacts for life. A new academic year means a new start. Both for you as a new student, and for you who are returning after a long, warm summer. All beginnings are an opportunity to set new goals. Now is the time to decide what kind of student you want to be. How are you planning to use this year? What do you intend to obtain for yourself? As always, it is indeed a fact that people who work purposefully more easily reach their goals.

And in challenging days, we want you to know that we are here to advise you and help you along the way. Your success is our goal. I look forward to meeting you as a student at BI Norwegian Business School, and wish you luck during your demanding and rewarding studies.
