With BI Norwegian Business School as a member, Oslo Science City now consists of 8000 researchers, 40 000 students and 300 startups.

“Cooperation between business and society is crucial for all higher educational institutions. It helps our students apply research and in-demand knowledge and abilities. Oslo Science City is an important venue where various organizations cooperate to solve common societal challenges. I am very pleased that BI has finally become a member,” says the President of BI Karen Spens.

The member organization Oslo Science City shall be a facilitator for strengthened interaction between research environments, students, government officials, and stakeholders within finance & business. This will contribute to increase Norway's innovative power, strengthen the ability to adapt and ensure long-term value creation throughout the country.

Stronger relations

Svein Stølen, rector of the University of Oslo, and chairman of the board in Oslo Science City, welcomes BI as a new member:

“This does not involve an expansion of the geographical area for Oslo Science City, but contributes to develop the innovation district in the best possible way. We will benefit from BI's expertise which complements other stakeholders, and I am sure that this will strengthen the relations between BI and the other members. This is in the best interest for everyone, especially Oslo and Norway,” according to Stølen.

Great research- and innovative power

CEO of Oslo Science City, Christine Wergeland Sørbye, highlights BI’s strong research environments in management, economics, finance, innovation, and entrepreneurship as important resources towards building a world leading innovation district in Oslo.

She also emphasizes how BI’s membership contributes to Oslo Science City’s goal of connecting the next generation of researchers and innovators with leading knowledge environments within academia and business.

“Now that Oslo Science City consists of the University of Oslo, BI and several other research institutes, we have built up a professional and academic environment within research and innovation that is recognized internationally.
