The event, which is taking place in Brussels on September 23 and 24, is a unique gathering providing an opportunity for the Nordic Universities to present EU stakeholders with a set of key messages rooted in the universities' positions on the role, strategic priorities, and vision for academia and the university sector in current and future EU policy making, and framework programs such as Horizon Europe and Erasmus +.
"I look forward to participate with peers from the Nordic countries and engage in important discussions on topics such as academic freedom, universities in the global landscape, and science-informed policy-making," says President at BI Norwegian Business School, Karen Spens who will be attending the Nordic University Days.
This year's event will include talks on an excellence-driven European framework programme for research and innovation: Towards FP10, Academic freedom and institutional autonomy; a priority, Science for Policy, the need for joint implementation of the European Research Area and European Education Area and Universities in a new geopolitical and global landscape.
Furthermore, the Rectors will engage in round table discussion with Nordic members of the European Parliament on issues high on the parliamentarian’s agenda including the debate on increased EU cooperation in defence and security, how to regulate AI and the development of the 2040 climate goals.
The Rectors will be engaged in discussions with Representatives from the European Commission, NATO, ERC, International Association of Universities, EUA, and members of the European Parliament from the Nordic countries.
