When were you an active case student at BI and at which campus?
I participated in case activities during my final year in my bachelor’s degree.

Why did you decide to join BI’s case activities?
I was approached and asked if I wanted to be a part of my case team by a faculty advisor. My decision to join was based on the learning potential I saw in taking part. It seemed like a good opportunity to apply what I had learned and put it into practice. Moreover, I saw it as a golden opportunity to meet new and interesting people.

What was the name of your case team and how did you find your teammates?
I was part of two different teams simultaneously. One team consisted of all Trondheim campus students and was called INCK consulting. This was the first team I joined, and the one I was approached to join.

The second team I was part of came as a result of INCK consulting participating in BINCC 2019. One student from each campus was selected to form a new team and represent BI in BIICC 2020, and I was selected from the campus in Trondheim. This case team was called Phoenix Consulting.

Did you have a specific role on your team?
On my team with INCK consulting I was the group leader. Furthermore, I was also the only marketing student among three economic students. For that reason, the marketing aspect was my responsibility.

On Phoenix Consulting, marketing was also my responsibility, together with my other marketing student teammate.

Which case competitions did you take part in?
I participated in the BINCC 2019 with INCK consulting, where we took 2. place. We also participated in IE Business schools BBA Business challenge 2020 in Madrid ad Segovia. Here we participated in a 4 hour case competition and a 24 hour case competition, where we made it to the finals in both. In the 24 hour case competition, which was the main competition, we won 2. place. With Phoenix Consulting I participated in the BIICC 2020.

What is your best memory from your case journey at BI?
My best memory from my case journey was when INCK consulting went to Madrid and Segovia. Not only did we win second place, but with both teams I got to meet some amazing students from all over the world.

What are your top three takeaways from case training and competitions?

  1. Being able to work on real-life cases for real businesses
  2. The ability to work on my presentation skills
  3. I learned a lot about myself

What skills did you learn from participating in case which were relevant to your development/career and how?

  • Presentation skills - Getting custom to speaking and presenting business solutions
  • Structure – You have a limited time to solve a case, so you have to be able to locate the key challenges quickly and structure your time.

Do you have any advice to students who are curious about case?
Go for it and challenge yourself!
