When were you an active case student at BI and at which campus?
I still an active case student at Bergen campus.

Why did you decide to join BI’s case activities?
First of all, to work with real business cases. In classes you mostly get mini cases you solve in a very short time, but with real business cases you have to go a lot deeper than that. You also learn how to present recommendations to a company, which I thought would give me valuable experience I could use later in life.

What was the name of your case team and how did you find your teammates?
Our team in Bergen was called SEKK consulting, our advisor divided us into teams the first day we started with case activities. I was also a part of the cross-campus team in the BIICC this winter, the cross-campus team was called Phoenix consulting.

Did you have a specific role on your team?
I was mostly doing the financial parts and designing the Power Point presentation.

Which case competitions did you take part in?
BI National Case Competition and BI International Case Competition.

What is your best memory from your case journey at BI?
My best memory from my case journey (so far) is the BIICC. It was really special to meet so many people with different backgrounds and roots. I met so many people with different experiences and insights, and everybody loved solving business cases.

What are your top three takeaways from case training and competitions?

1. Teamwork. Case is such a great arena to grow your teamwork abilities. You have to cooperate with different people with different skillset and personalities. You also get to know skilled students really fast. It is amazing how fast you get to know a person when you are locked in the same room for 12 and even 24 hours.
2. Presentation skills. When you present a recommendation several times per month, you suddenly forget about the negative thing with giving a presentation. I went from being quite anxious about giving a presentation, to be quite comfortable on stage. You will learn techniques and skills which will ease your life later on in the workplace.
3. The reality and variety of businesses. When practicing to and participating case competitions, you are solving a bunch of business cases from different industries. Such as renewable energy, restaurants, banking and insurance etc.. You also get an insight in what companies actually care about. After you are done with presenting a recommendation, the company representatives will ask you questions about the recommendation. These questions helps you have a broader view on problems businesses cope with.

What skills did you learn from participating in case which were relevant to your development/career and how?
I am still a student, but I truly believe that the teamwork and presentation skills will help any person within every industry and career. Also, the broad view on business problems will help you getting to know the complexity of industries and businesses.
