Verification of diplomas for students

Information regarding verification of diplomas.

Verification of original documents

Information about the time and place of the meeting will be sent to you via e-mail.

If you have been selected for verification you will be required to present some or all of the originals of documents you uploaded in your application for admission to BI. Verification entails checking the originals of the documents you uploaded in your application for authenticity.

All students accepted with an international education background are required to present their original diplomas and transcripts for verification. If your educational institution has sent the documents directly to BI or if it is possible to verify your documents in a digital database which BI can access, you will not be requested to present the paper version of your original documents. You will need to arrange with BI Admissions to access your digital records.

Students with prior Norwegian university studies will be verified via the Norwegian Diploma Registry. If your education cannot be verified online you may be required to present your original documents for verification.

What documentation must I submit for verification?
Examples of documentation include original diploma from upper secondary school or higher education institution, final transcript of grades, your diploma/parchment, certification of competence, or references. You will receive an e-mail specifying which documents you must bring to the meeting.

NOTE: We only accept original documents and not “Certified Copies”.

What will happen if I do not submit my documentation?
You have signed a study contract that requires you to present your original documentation when asked. Failure to submit the original documents is considered a breach of contract. The result of this breach is you will lose your place of study at BI and you will be required to pay the tuition fee for the autumn semester. For more information see your study contract and BI’s Academic Regulations.

What if I can’t make the scheduled meeting time?
If you have been contacted to submit documents for verification it is important that you show up at the agreed time and place. If you are unable to attend the scheduled meeting, you are thus obligated to contact the administration at your campus to schedule a new meeting time.
