Information regarding threats to BI's top management team

16 October 2019

BI’s top management team in Oslo has received anonymous and threatening emails. The threats are directed specifically against members of the top management team.

BI takes all threats seriously, and the matter has been reported to the police. Magnus Wølner, BI’s security advisor and former police officer, is in close dialogue with the police.

The police have identified a former student from BI as a suspect in the case. After making an assessment, we have notified those among our staff who need to know the suspect’s identity.

We are treating this situation with the seriousness it deserves and have added more security staff on campus as an extra security measure.

All classes and school operations are proceeding as normal, and we are following all recommendations from the police.

This situation is not related to the threats BI informed students and employees about in mid-September 2019, where a student threatened fellow students via the social media platforms Jodel and Snapchat.

Given that the police investigation is ongoing, we ask for your understanding for the limited information we are able to provide at this time.
