In the heart of China's technological development

Our collaboration with Tsinghua University in Beijing allows BI to create a development programme for help high-tech companies that have made it through the difficult start-up phase that hope to succeed on a global scale. Ten companies have participated in the programme and sent senior executives and 2 people from their management teams in the course of the last 18 months.

The president of the Norwegian School of Management (BI), Inge Jan Henjesand, is quite satisfied that BI has positioned itself at the heart of global technology development.

"This is a unique opportunity for BI to work with one of the leading technology communities in the world. We find the largest concentration of start-up companies in the world around Tsinghua University, worth over one billion dollars in China. The programme and pace of development in China represent a unique learning forum for BI; learning that will make us even more relevant for the Norwegian business sector where international competition is concerned."

Knowledge across borders

The president of BI, Inge Jan Henjesand, and vice president of Tsinghua, Yang Bin, signed an agreement that marked the start of the programme during Prime Minister Erna Solberg's visit to China in 2017. The first ten companies have already finished the programme since that day. On 17 October, the Minister of Trade and Industry Torbjørn Røe Isaksen participated in the official commemoration of the BI/Tsinghua Collaboration on Innovation & Entrepreneurship.

Henjesand is satisfied with BI’s collaboration with Tsinghua – bringing the Norwegian business sector closer to technological developments in one of the world's foremost and fastest growing high-tech hubs.

"We look forward to showing the results from our first group of Chinese tech entrepreneurs and business leaders who hope to develop innovative business models and scale these for the global market," President Henjesand said.

The second group will be starting soon. One of the companies following the BI/Tsinghua collaboration closely is Predictor Instruments. Predictor Instruments is a leading technology company in the development and implementation of operational technologies systems (OT) directed at the industrial market. The company chose to participate with Norwegian and Chinese executives in the scaling programme.

"This is a good example of how our international collaboration as a research and educational institution benefits the Norwegian business sector," Inge Jan Henjesand said in conclusion.

Extensive international experience

BI has many years of experience with education in China through its partnership with the School of Management at Fudan University since 1996, where we have trained around 2500 leaders who currently hold key positions at the largest Nordic and international companies in the region. BI's is training center has expanded significantly after recently establishing this cooperation with the foremost university in China, Tsinghua University.
