Between 29 September and 1 October, the annual Conference on Health & Humanitarian Logistics was hosted by Georgia Tech’s Interdisciplinary Research Centre on Health and Humanitarian Systems. The MIA project was represented by a large delegation and took active part in the three-day conference.

The conference theme of this year was ‘Pushing the boundaries of Agility’ and focused on the challenges and new solutions in healthcare, disaster preparedness and response and long-term development. Among the keynote speakers were Ed Martinez, president of the UPS Foundation, Esperanza Martinez, head of Health at ICRC as well as Anuradka Gupta, Deptury CEO at GAVI. In the main conference program there were also several panel sessions and workshops, among which one of them was organized by MIA.

The MIA-hosted workshop focused on measures for improving access to medicines. During the workshop, the researchers presented the outline as well as the initial hypotheses of the project to participants. After a short introduction, participants were split into break-out rooms to discuss current challenges, as well as potential measures and interventions to improve medicine access.
