Sustainability has moved from a fringe issue to mainstream, and is being integrated into the core of leading companies such as Tesla, Unilever, Patagonia, IKEA and even Walmart.

SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS SPECIALISED COURSES

The Challenge of Transformation to Sustainable Growth
This course aims to introduce green growth as a field of leadership and strategy. Most studies show that sustainable business attract employees, collaborate better with regulators, and discover new opportunities for innovation. We spell out these links, discuss hybrid business models and explore the personal motivation and ethics of sustainable leadership. Participants will gain insight into the main differences between green economics and mainstream economics, learn how to set hybrid visions and acquire the tools for analysing opportunities for green growth. We will also discuss controversies of “greenwashing”, the circular economy and radical resource productivity.

Entrepreneurship and Green Business Innovations
This course, conducted in Stockholm, focuses on how you can develop smart green ideas and make business models for innovations. Learn more about design thinking in practice, social entrepreneurship and impact investment, and how companies can tackle cultural and organisational inertia. We delve into entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship, how new green ventures go from seed to growth stage - and from start-ups to scale-ups.

Navigating the long term future, while accounting for today’s performance
How serious is global warming ‒ and how can we solve it? In this course, participants will learn about how to develop strategic scenarios, and explore driving forces for disruptive change over the next 10-50 years. What is the future of sustainability and the global sustainability goals? Will low carbon technology, circular economy and regenerative practices be sufficient for a safe transformation in time? We will also look at what kind of organisations and competence will be needed to surf the next big wave of the green shift.

High performance change management for sustainability transformation
In our final course, we focus on how you can manage the change involved in executing green strategies. This includes, but is not limited to, setting up a guiding coalition, co-creating direction, mobilising resources and energy in people through positive relationships, as well as using the progress principle and cultivating a mastery climate for fast learning and institutionalising of practices. As a part of this process, you will also work with developing a green business plan for your own company.

"The transformation of wastefulness into tomorrow’s sustainable companies is the greatest business opportunity in the 21st century."

We will learn about how these companies move from idea to start-up, and why the processes here are so fast. Our classes take place at the renowned Haas Business School, University of California at Berkeley.
