Current Issues in Supply Chain and Operations Management
Any company or organization in todays business, civilian and public sector landscape is linked to other organisations, whether it is suppliers, customers, logistics service providers, or other intermediaries. The performance of the individual firm or organization depends on its partners’ strength and weaknesses. Globalisation, digitalization, and focus on sustainability are having a significant impact on all sectors and its supply chain members. Particularly it creates strategic challenges concerning positioning, supply chain integration, risk management, and supply network configuration and organisation. The objective of the course is to provide students with insight into these strategic challenges, and how to approach some of them.
The intention with the course is to help students to apply and further develop knowledge gained from previous courses in logistics, supply chain and operations management. The course provides lectures on current issues and approaches and perspectives to research in logistics, supply chain and operations management. A key part of the course is the undertaking of business cases. The course provides students with a framework of how to develop such in real life settings.
