Digital problem solving and task automation

One aim of the programme is to develop candidates with capabilities as digital problem solvers. A digital problem solver.

The concept of competency implies more than just the acquisition of knowledge and skills; it involves the mobilisation of knowledge, skills, attitudes and values to meet complex demands.” – OECD Learning Framework 2020

The purpose of this course is to train the candidates in problem solving. It is an integrating course between business and technology where the candidates can apply skills from the first programme courses to solve business problems, applying knowledge from the core and program courses.

To develop digital skills, the candidates will also be trained in the use of automation tools adopted by the business community, such as Microsoft 365 automation, Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and Chatbots. Basic skills in coding and data management are required. The problem solving may also include advanced use of Excel.

Course content

  • Problem-solving; methods and processes
  • Teamwork in problem solving
  • Task automation: concepts and tools
  • Hands-on introduction to tools for automation (e.g. Microsoft 365 automation, Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and Chatbots)[1]
  • Problem-solving workshops – following the stages of a problem-solving process

 

[1] Tools will be aligned with what is emerging tools in businesses. Currently, UiPath (RPA) and Microsoft bot Framework (chatbot) are deemd feasible.
