Preliminary Course in Mathematics

Introduction

FORK 2910 is a preliminary course in mathematics. The course serves as a preparation for the mathematics course EXC 2910 Mathematics. EXC 2910 is a mandatory part of the bachelor's programs in economic and administrative subjects. The prerequisite course is fully digital and can be completed when it suits the individual student. However, we recommend that you complete the prerequisite course before EXC 2910 begins in the spring semester.

FORK 2910 course is recommended for everyone.

The preliminary course covers fundamental topics of mathematics: Numbers, fractions, percentages, algebra, functions in one variable and graphs. This forms the basis for EXC 2910 Mathematics, but also for statistics and economics courses.

Course content

  • Numbers. Number lines. Basic arithmetic. Fractions.
  • Elementary algebra. Solution of equations and systems of equations.
  • Functions: The concept of functions. Basic functions.
  • The coordinate system. Graphs. Drawing and interpreting graphs.
