Practical info

As a GSERM participant you will be welcomed with a variety of academic and social activities to make the most of your time in Oslo. In the meantime, here you will find some practical information to help plan your journey and stay in Oslo.

Travel to Oslo

Oslo's main international airport Gardermoen is a short 25 minute train ride from the city center. Oslo has a very good public transport system and we recommend buying a 7-day pass for the duration of your course.

As a service, we offer the option of single room accommodation in 2-bedroom apartments of high standard with fully equipped kitchen, shared bathroom, washing machine and free wi-fi. The apartments are centrally located in a popular area, providing easy access to BI. The rental period is from Saturday to Saturday, check-in after 15:00 and check-out before 11:00. Read more.

Programme fee

CHF 1000 for a one week course and CHF 1900 for a two week course.

An Early Bird Discount of CHF 100 for one or two courses is available until 31 October 2017.

Additional course info

All participants must bring their own laptop. Free wi-fi is available at BI and at the accommodation booked through St. Gallen/BI. Software needed for the course is included in the course fee and will be available on the first day of the course.

BI has a state of the art library and you can join the library tour on your first day, which will give you information on how to use their services and to search for articles and publications at BI. See

Morning Tea at BI

Each course day will start with a light breakfast serving including coffee & tea at BI. This will save you time in the morning and is included in your course fee.

January is a winter month, with cold weather, snow and generally great skiing possibilities (down-hill as well as cross-country). Warm clothes are highly recommended. Temperatures vary from +5 to -15 degrees Celsius. Oslo during the wintertime is stunning – this is your chance to experience a real Winter Wonderland.

As a GSERM participant, you will receive a newsletter in mid-December with detailed information about your accommodation, tips on what to bring and where to meet on your first day.
