University of Leipzig team

The Institute of Communication and Media Studies at the University of Leipzig will look into matters of online participation and trust generation in the digitized economy.

The institute has furthermore a strong background in the communication sciences and will contribute their expertise in the field. The Leipzig team will take a leading position in our exploration of participation in the sharing economy. 

Christian Hoffmann

Prof. Dr. Christian Pieter Hoffmann is professor for communication management at the Institute of Communication and Media Studies, University of Leipzig, Germany, and a lecturer at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, Singapore Management University, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Germany, and the University of Applied Sciences in Business Administration Zurich, Switzerland. He studied business administration at the University of St. Gallen and the Australian Graduate School of Management as well as political sciences at the FernUniversität in Hagen, Germany.

His research portfolio is focused on online communication, financial communication and political communication. He has published numerous studies on antecedents, forms and outcomes of online participation and the participation divide. Within the Ps2Share project, Christian will lead work package 3 focusing on participation and non-participation in the sharing economy.

Sandra Tietz

Sandra Tietz is a PhD candidate and research associate at the chair of  communication management (Prof. Dr. Christian Hoffmann) at the University of Leipzig as well as project member in the research institution “Center for Research in Financial Communications“. Prior to that, she worked at a strategic communication consultancy in Frankfurt and New York, focusing on capital market transactions. Her research interests include online communication, digitization, participation, financial communications, investor relations and strategic communication management.

Thomas Eichhorn

Thomas Eichhorn is a PhD candidate at the chair of communication management (Prof. Dr. Christian Hoffmann) at the University of Leipzig.

Sebastian Jürss 

Sebastian Jürss (M.A.) is a PhD candidate and research associate at the chair of communication management (Prof. Dr. Christian Hoffmann) at the University of Leipzig. His research interests include (online) participation, digitization, modernization theory, digital inequality and digital labor.

Alexander Sasse

Alexander Sasse is Research Assistant at the chair of communication management (Prof. Dr. Christian Hoffmann) at the University of Leipzig and supports different research projects with a focus on the field of participation in the digital economy. He studies Communication Management at the University of Leipzig, Germany and the University of Oslo, Norway. Prior to that, he studied Media Management at the Macromedia University in Cologne, Germany and worked at a nationwide weekly newspaper in the corporate communication department in Hamburg, Germany.
