Edtech and the Future of Business Education:

Co-creating best practice

Technological advancements profoundly impacts our societies, the future of work, the skills and capabilities that are needed and the ways in which we require them.

Edtech is changing the environment in which higher education is operating, offering both challenges and new opportunities in the way in which we approach teaching and learning. This new socially driven, digital age requires a fundamental rethink of what higher education is, as well as the skills, practices and technologies required for this new age. The Edtech Forum will provide the opportunity for European Universities and Business Schools to share knowledge, lessons learned and insights gained.

Building on from last year’s theme; “from strategy to practice”, we are putting together an inspirational schedule of presentations and workshops to illuminate, share, discuss and “co-create” best - and evolving -  practice in higher education. Our pedagogical practices are continuously evolving with new technologies and opportunities, including AI, chatbots, data analytics, VR and personalisation. Our focus at this forum is on how these changes affect our practice.

We look forward to an engaging and interactive Edtech Forum in Oslo on the 9th of November 2018. The event is kicked off with an informal dinner the evening of the 8th.

Alain GOUDEY is Associate Professor of Marketing at NEOMA Business School. He is also Founding Partner of AtooMedia, a sound communication and musical design agency, and its subsidiary, Mediavea, a retail marketing company. He graduated in 2001 from TELECOM Ecole de Management where he earned a Masters in Management Science. He was awarded a PhD in Management Sciences from Université Paris-Dauphine in 2007. Co-author of several books, he also publishes his academic work in France and abroad in scientific journals such as International Journal of Research in Marketing, Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services, International Journal of Retail and Distribution Management, Recherche et Applications en Marketing, Décisions Marketing, Management & Avenir and Advances in Consumer Research Proceedings. He is a regularly sought contributor to top media organisations as Harvard Business Review France or BFM TV. He also participates regularly in conferences (TEDx, Microsoft, Carrefour, PSA, etc.) and executive training programmes on behalf of major corporations: Orange, IBM, Caisse des Dépôts Group, etc.

Ihsan ZAKRI is manager, Accreditation and Member Services at AACSB International. At AACSB he works with both the Executive vice president/Chief Officer Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and the Chief Accreditation officer to develop and implement integrated accreditation and member service and engagement initiatives in the EMEA region. He serves as a staff liaison for over 160 schools in EMEA region. Ihsan has an international background in higher education, program and Institutional accreditation and course and program development. He gained extensive experience in accreditation and EU funded projects before joining AACSB. Ihsan has earned a Master’s degree in Social Sciences with a concentration on the Middle East from Lund University, Sweden.

Robert PEACH obtained a PhD in Applied Mathematics and Physical Chemistry (Biological Systems) from the Imperial College London under the supervision of Mauricio Barahona (Dept of Mathematics), Keith Willison (Dept of Chemistry), David Klug (Dept of Chemistry) and Sophia Yaliraki (Dept of Chemistry) . His thesis dealt with the spatio-temporal dynamics of proteins – he developed mathematical mutation models based on graph theory that he validated experimentally using single-molecule spectroscopy.

Over the past year he has conducted postdoctoral research at Imperial College as a joint member of the Department of Mathematics and Imperial College Business School.  He is currently working on developing mathematical models to analyse temporal data corresponding to students undertaking on-line courses with Imperial College. His current research looks to uncover engagement behaviours of students from their time-series ‘click-stream’ data and subsequently identify the relationship between behaviour and performance (or other dependent variables).  Concurrently, he is also a member of the Centre for Mathematical Precision Healthcare where he works on optimising transcranial electrical stimulation therapy for Parkinsons and Essential Tremor patients (in collaboration with Nir Grossman).

This forum builds on Edtech Forum 2016 in London and 2017 in Milan and is organised in collaboration with Imperial College Business School and Bocconi University.
