Why Oslo

Student reception at the City Hall

Oslo hosts 8000 international students, and the city is proud of its international population.

The City Council wants to identify ways to make it easier to choose Oslo as a place of study, as well as residence after completed studies. To enhance and strengthen Oslo’s role as host to international students, Governing Mayor Raymond Johansen, would like to meet with international students from some major institutions: University of Oslo, BI Norwegian Business School, Oslo and Akershus University College of applied sciences, and The Oslo School of Architecture and Design.

The Governing Mayor wants to find out more about how international students contribute in value creation, and why foreign students should choose Norway. His aim for the dialogue meeting is two-part: One is to get an insight into why international students decide to study in Oslo. The second aim is to figure out how the Council can contribute and ease the process of settling in as a student in finding employment and extending your stay.

The Oslo City Council welcomes thoughts and input on issues and possibilities that are supportive, and on any hurdles or problems you may encounter. Would you like to contribute in making Oslo a better place for international students? We want to hear from you. More information about the application process below.
