Knowledge, Innovation, Technology, and Digitalization

Linda Rademaker, BI Norwegian Business School, Norway
Hans Solli-Sæther, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Norway

Knowledge plays a key role in the internationalization of firms. As both traditional firms and born digitals are increasingly engaged in the development and protection of proprietary knowledge in different locations in the world, and new technologies and digitalization change the ways in which business is conducted globally, there is an increased need for understanding how multinational enterprises can leverage knowledge in their international activities.

In this track, we welcome papers that focus on the role of knowledge, technology, innovation, and digitalization in MNEs. Examples of these are studies that address issues associated with knowledge sourcing (through for instance FDI), knowledge development, knowledge transfer, and the protection of proprietary knowledge. Moreover, papers that study innovation in international business, and the role of country differences in spurring or hindering innovation. Other topics that are of interest to this track are those involving technological change and new technologies and its implications for international business. Finally, we seek to include papers focused on the role of digitalization and automation in internationalization, foreign direct investment and the management of MNEs.
