A word from the president
In 2023, we continued our work as a business school that provides individuals with opportunities and tools to achieve their dreams and contribute to the development of society.
2023 was a comprehensive anniversary year for BI. It gave me perspectives on the school's rich history and achievements. Through a series of events, we celebrated current and former students and BI's solid contribution to society over eight decades, while trying to look ahead. Research and knowledge are essential for dealing with the local and global challenges we face and to create a sustainable future for generations to come.
Throughout last year, it was gratifying to see that BI's studies hold a strong position in Norway. In 2023, we had a record number of full-time students starting their studies at BI, and it was extra special to welcome BI's first law students. Our investment in law studies will be strengthened and further developed in the years ahead, and I am convinced that this will help reinforce BI's impression in society.
At the time of writing, I have been president at BI for a year and a half. It has been a time of intensive learning, good experiences, and challenges. Last year was also characterised by restructuring, demanding priorities and a focus on cutting costs. I’m impressed by the team spirit and attitude shown by BI's employees, who are willing to adjust the course and ensure that BI can continue to achieve good results in the future. I’m particularly keen to develop and strengthen this team spirit and sense of community further through "Our BI". Our BI represents collaboration, joint responsibility for achieving our goals, and taking care of the well-being and well-being of all students and employees.
If BI is to maintain its position as a recognised international European business school, we must continue to adapt and develop. At the end of 2023, we started the important work of creating a new strategy for BI that will apply from 2025. I look forward to contributing to setting the course for BI in the years ahead. We will continue to give our students the knowledge and skills to achieve their dreams and contribute to society's general development.
I want to say a big thank you to everyone who contributes to making BI Norway's best business school. Together with our employees, students, alums, business partners, and the student organisation BISO — we should all be proud of the efforts made in 2023.
