Jump start your education in Scandinavia!

Jönköping University in collaboration with BI Norwegian Business School (BI) have created a joint Pathway Programme, designed for international students as a bridge towards a bachelor’s degree at BI Norwegian Business School.

The BI-Jönköping University Pathway Programme is designed to prepare international students academically to enter the three-year English-taught bachelor’s programmes at BI. The emphasis is building a solid academic foundation for success in higher education, becoming familiar with Scandinavian life and culture, and improving English competency and proficiency.

The programme also introduces students to Scandinavian society and culture while supporting a solid academic foundation in higher education. Classes for the Pathway Programme will be held at Jönköping University in Sweden, at the campus in Gränna, the campus in Jönköping, or online.

Is the Pathway Programme right for me?

Like many other aspiring international candidates who want to pursue a bachelor’s degree at BI, you may not be able to apply directly into our three-year bachelor’s programmes. This could be because of a government requirement that you need an additional year of education before qualifying. Or, it may be that your English proficiency is slightly below the admission requirement.

The BI-Jönköping Pathway programme is right for you if:

  • You have a high school diploma from a country that doesn’t qualify for direct admission to a bachelor's degree programme in Norway. These include countries such as China, India, Russia, Brazil, and the US. (To check if your secondary education is recognised for direct admission to a bachelor's degree programme in Norway, please visit the Norwegian Agency for Quality Assurance) AND/OR
  • Your equivalent language test score is below the level that BI requires (IELTS 6.0/TOEFL 80 or equivalent). You must have a minimum IELTS 5.0 or equivalent to be eligible for the Pathway Programme.

Progression to BI

When you apply to the BI-JU Pathway Programme, you will also be pre-assessed for eligibility for our English-language bachelor programmes. When admitted to Jonkoping University you will receive confirmation of a study place at BI Norwegian Business School on the condition that you pass all your pathway courses. You will officially apply to BI in the spring. You must successfully complete the Pathway Programme before you can be officially admitted to BI.
