Accelerated Model for Master of Science in Quantitative Finance

Please note that applicants must qualify for admission based on the general requirements for Master of Science and the programme specific admission requirements, to be evaluated for the Accelerated Model.
1. DEGREE REQUIREMENTS
1.1 Undergraduate and Graduate Degree
a) A successfully completed Bachelor’s (180 ECTS) with a specialisation (minimum 80 ECTS credits) in one of the following, provided that the combination of courses gives a good foundation for further studies within quantitative finance:
- Mathematics
- Statistics
- Engineering
- Computer Science
- Economics
- Physics
- STEM
Or
b) A successfully completed Bachelor’s degree (180 ECTS) in the field of business administration with a highly quantitative specialisation (80 ECTS). The business degree must include the following foundation courses, or equivalent:
- Macroeconomics
- Microeconomics
- Finance
- Statistics or Econometrics
And
1.2 Master of Science Degree
a) A successfully completed Master of Science (120 ECTS) in one of the following areas, provided that the combination of courses gives a good foundation for further studies within quantitative finance:
- Finance
- Business Administration
- Economics
The Masters degree must include the following courses, or equivalent:
- Mathematics: Calculus and Linear Algebra *
- Statistics and/or Econometrics (12 ECTS or equivalent of 2 courses) *
- Courses in Finance: Minimum of 24 ECTS or equivalent of 4 relevant Finance courses. (Example: Investments, Asset Pricing, Derivatives, Corporate Finance, Fixed Income)
*If the candidate has a STEM related bachelor degree or sufficient quantitative subjects (ex. Mathematics, Calculus, Linear Algebra at intermediate level, these course(s) will be waived from the requirements)
2. Grade Requirements
In addition to the specified admission requirements, applicants to the Accelerated Model for MSc in Quantitative Finance programme require:
- A minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) requirement of 3.5 (B) on the ECTS scale in the Master of Science degree.
- A minimum grade of C in courses at the master’s level of particular relevance to the programme.
3. Overall assessment
In the event an applicant does not meet all the minimum requirements, an individual overall assessment may be conducted. Based on an overall assessment of the individual applicant’s admission file, the MSc Admission Committee and/or the Associate Dean may make an offer of admission to an MSc programme. They may approve other documented qualifications to satisfy admission requirements.
