Executive MBA
The Executive MBA is intense and demands commitment. Admission requirements are stringent to ensure that all accepted candidates are qualified and motivated to complete the programme.

- You must have completed a Bachelor’s degree, corresponding to 180 officially approved ECTS from a university or equivalent qualification.
- You must be 25 years of age or older.
- Minimum six years of relevant full-time work experience (at least 100% position, continuous for at least 6 months, gained at 18 plus years).
- Two work-related certificates or letters of recommendation, with at least one addressing the applicant’s performance in their current job, if possible.

Candidates who do not meet the requirements for achieved bachelor's degree but have substantial, international work experience may be considered in certain cases.
The evaluation will be based on the following criteria:
- Credits above 90 ECTS
- Work experience after the age of 25 (at least 6 years)
- Level of current position. (Documented by a work certificate, signed current year)
- Experience from organization work
- Management experience with significant responsibility
Please note that the evaluation is based on minimum requirements based on age, the number of credits achieved (above the requirement of 90 ECTS) and work experience (above 6 years). An applicant who only fulfills the minimum requirement is not eligible for admission.
Dean's choice
In special circumstances the admission office can assess candidates based on additional criteria. Associate Dean may in some instances approve other documented qualifications in strong candidates, which are equal to our admission requirements stated under “document requirements”. A minimum requirement is that the candidate has obtained Higher Education Entrance Qualification from High school/Upper secondary. If considered for Dean’s Choice, the applicant will be asked to submit a GMAT test. -
We have continuous admissions, and we recommend that you apply as early as possible. Applications are processed until the programme is full or until the application deadline. Your application and documents should be in English.

- Please submit 2 letters of recommendation (LoR). There are no formal requirements to the letters, but you may use our LoR template if you wish. The capabilities we are looking for in the LoR are the following:
- Candidate’s potential in the areas of leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, analytical ability, innovative thinking, team orientation, and integrity.
- Candidate’s weaknesses and strengths.
- Copy of your passport (not applicable if in hold of Norwegian id-number)
- Change of name (documentation is required if you have changed your name)
- Motivational essay: Please describe your career path, your accomplishments and your rationale for pursuing an EMBA. The purpose of the motivational essay is to get to know you and to find out what motivates you. The essay is not meant to be an academic article or a business memo, but rather your personal story. The essay should be between 500-800 words long.
BI reserves the right to ask for additional documentation which may be required for the admission process beyond the documentation stated under documentation requirements.
Applicants from outside of Norway are recommended to get an approval of their education by Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills. Information about the approval process can be found here.

Qualifying applicants are called in for an online interview to assess the applicant's abilities and motivation for the Executive MBA. Please make sure that you submit your application and the required documents early, to have sufficient time to apply for a Schengen Tourist visa (single / multiple) if needed.

Applications received by 10 January will be given priority. BI Norwegian Business School will continue to accept applications until programme start, and no applications will be accepted after this date. Offers of admission will be made based on availability of seats in the programme.
Applicants from outside the EU who do not currently reside in Norway must apply by 10 January to allow time for securing a visitor’s visa.
For the BI Scholarship, the application deadline is December 1. Offers will be sent to selected candidates six weeks before the programme begins.
