Welcome to HOFIMAR
HOFIMAR aims to advance our understanding of households’ financial behavior and macroeconomics, and importantly also the implications of the interplay between household finances and the macro economy. The center is hosted at the BI Norwegian Business School and connects the school’s faculty and PHD students within finance and economics. We collaborate extensively with external scholars in Norway and abroad.
Research at the center seeks to answer questions on the research frontier by combining high quality registry data (from Norway and elsewhere) on household finances with newer insights from the field of macroeconomics.
The center serves as an outlet for dissemination of early-stage research results through workshops and conferences and through the HOFIMAR working papers series, with the aim to submit work for (peer-review) publication in leading academic journals. In this process the researchers of the center also actively engage in the public debate with dissemination of newer research insights to the general public.
