Housing

BI is proud to offer a housing guarantee for international students. In cooperation with our housing providers, international students can choose from several different housing locations.

Would you like to live at the edge of the forest, with serene lakes as your neighbour? Or do you prefer to live in the city centre with cafés, shops and theatres at your doorstep?

Thanks to BI's housing guarantee for international students, you have several options. And, you may keep your housing choice for the entire period of your studies simply by renewing your housing contract each year.

While completing the application process, you will have the option to choose your own room based on your individual preferences and the availability with our housing partners. We cooperate with several housing providers that offer affordable single rooms in a variety of student housing units across Oslo and in Bergen.

International students at BI Campus Oslo are only guaranteed a room in a student residence if they apply through the Pre-Application for Housing before May 1 for students starting in August (Autumn semester) and October 1 for students starting in January (Spring semester). This does not apply to students at Campus Bergen. Further information about how to apply for housing in Bergen can be found under the “Bergen” section below.

Please note that the housing guarantee only applies to new students at BI arriving in Norway for the first time and who pay the 1250 NOK non-refundable Pre-Application for Housing.

After completing the pre-application for housing, you will receive an email from BI with further instructions. Please follow these instructions carefully to apply directly to your chosen housing provider no later than 1 May (if you are starting in autumn) and 1 October (if you are starting in the spring).

Different rooms in the Student housing BSN

Even if you are waiting on a decision to your admission application, you must still complete the steps above within the given deadline to be guaranteed housing. If you are not admitted to BI, the pre-application fee (1250 NOK) can be refunded. The same applies if your study permit application is rejected.

The majority of the rooms offered in student residences are furnished, but you are not guaranteed a furnished room unless you are an exchange student staying in Norway for less than one year.

In shared accommodation, roomates are not assigned by gender so your roomates may not be the same gender as you.

Student housing is generally the most affordable accommodation you will find in Norway and also one of the best ways to meet new people and quickly build your social network.

Housing Options

In the housing pre-application form, you will be able to see the available housing providers you can choose from. Rooms are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so the earlier you apply, the better your chances are of receiving your ideal choice.

If you do not find your preferred housing provider in the pre-application for housing, this indicates that the option is no longer available for BI students and you must choose another provider.

Below you will find the list of the housing providers with whom we cooperate.
