Student life at BI

Choosing business analytics

One of the best advantages of this program is that during the third semester we have three options. We can get an internship, work on a consultancy project, or pursue a research assistant position.

Hi! My name is Jocelyn Gallegos and I’m from Mexico. I’ll talk about the amazing experience that I’m having as student in the MSc in Business Analytics.

The universe of analytics is fascinating and challenging – it is an industry that will never end to evolve. Therefore, I wanted to keep learning. I am convinced that the Business Analytics program is meeting beyond my expectations. BI has a solid connection to the business world. We as students have the chance to expand our expertise focused on real business challenges. Moreover, this program provides us with the ideal knowledge and tools. Including technical classes about the principles of programming, machine learning, and data management. – Vastly needed in today’s rapidly changing world.

I confess that, in the beginning. I was nervous about the classes, the difficulty. Also, the academic demand of BI and the program. When I looked at the study plan, all the courses seemed to be very advanced -and spoiler alert, they are-. But fortunately, we have amazing teachers sharing their vast knowledge with us. They not only demonstrate their passion for the content of their course. But also guide us to discover our potential as future data analysts. Besides, they are patient and always willing to help.

Another relevant part of my student life is the people I’m surrounded with. To describe us a little. I can say that we are 67% men and 33% women. 58% Norwegians and 42% international students from 20 different countries! Thus, being part of a class with cultural diversity, language and ideas have been a fantastic experience. Also, helped me to have a broader and global vision. It’s very enriching to be enclosed with bright minds. But the best part is they become your friends during this master's journey.
