Data Science for Business

This programme is designed to give you advanced expertise in the data science field combined with a broad business understanding. Get the knowledge and skills needed to create business value from data and pursue a career in data-driven organisations.

What will you learn?

Due to the digital revolution, data science has become a strategic necessity in virtually all areas of society, including business. However, data science alone cannot help us formulate and identify business-relevant questions and problems. For this purpose, sound business knowledge is crucial.

The programme is designed to give you a broad and solid understanding of theories and concepts central to business, such as risk management, optimisation, marketing, and sustainability. In this setting, you will learn how to efficiently organise data science workflows using a wide range of data types, such as time series and text, and code and operate machine learning tools ranging from simple linear and non-linear regression and classification models to deep learning.

This interdisciplinary programme is very quantitatively demanding and will challenge and enhance your technical and analytical skills, and improve your ability to propose, execute, and communicate analytical solutions to complex problems.

Research centre for the future of data science

The programme has been designed and is implemented in close connection with the programme’s industry partners, BI’s data science department, and Simula@BI.

Simula@BI is a research centre that focuses on applied and fundamental research in data science, with a special focus on application in the intersection between business and data science. The partnership between BI and Simula Research Laboratory aims at strengthening the link between statistical methodology and machine learning, and between algorithms and high-impact applications of particular relevance to society. By studying data science at BI you will build your degree on this knowledge and take advantage of our good industry connections.
