The Future of Finance

The investment management industry is facing significant disruptive forces, internally and externally. Shifting regulatory environments and new macroeconomic conditions in addition to current trends in digitization and commoditization and new tech-centric business models will necessitate changes in the industry.

Paul Smith, President and CEO at CFA Institute, will discuss the Future of finance and highlight some of the key trends expected to shape the financial industry in the long run.

Paul Smith leads CFA Institute and its more than 150,000 members worldwide in promoting the highest standards of education, ethics, and professional excellence in the investment profession. Smith brings extensive leadership experience in the investment management industry, having held a variety of positions in major financial centers over 30 years. He moved to Hong Kong in 1996 to join Bank of Bermuda, later acquired by HSBC, where he was global head of alternative funds administration responsible for servicing 2,000 investment funds with over US$250 billion of assets. He has worked for Ermitage International, Pricewaterhouse, and he founded Asia Alternative Asset Partners. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales and holds a master's degree in history from Oxford University.
