Internship landed dreamjob

7 March 2012

Former BI student Kathrine Lørke Søndergaard landed her dream job after taking a summer job working for Deloitte. "It feels like I've had an eight-week-long job interview," says Søndergaard.

According to Finansavisen (Wednesday 7 March), 64 per cent of medium- and large-sized companies offer one or more students who work for them during the summer a permanent position.

"Our summer internship programme has become an important recruitment channel for us, and many of those working for us today first came to us as summer interns," says Ronny Pettersen, HR Manager at Deloitte, to Finansavisen.

One of them is former BI student Kathrine Lørke Søndergaard. As far back as the autumn of 2009, she sent an application for a summer internship at Deloitte. At that time she had almost two years left of her master's degree at BI Norwegian Business School.

"The competition for jobs is tough," she says, adding that most of her co-students had applied for one or more similar summer jobs.

She started in her permanent job in the autumn of 2011.
