BI on Snapchat

BI has created and launched a special Snapchat account to meet students and potential new students where they are. The purpose is to showcase BI’s good study environment.

Snapchat is considered the most informal and personal form of communication within social media. The platform is free, easy to use and has the potential to reach out to great numbers of people. At the same time, the platform offers a unique opportunity to capture the full attention of our followers for up to ten uninterrupted seconds. By the end of 2014, approximately 80 percent of the population aged 18-29 used Snapchat, and the figure is growing.


Last week BI launched the Snapchat-account "BIOSLO". The channel will be used to show that BI is a school with an inclusive learning environment. We will showcase everything from students to events and academic content. Through Snapchat we will, for example, publish photos of events organized by the student union (SBIO) to showcase the social aspect of student life.

Huge interest

Communications Manager Ole Petter Syrrist-Leite notes that the account "BIOSLO" already has created an effect. After the launch last week the account generated about 600 followers, and the figure is rising.

- Snapchat is a relatively new and exciting channel, which we see that many of our own students and prospective students are using. So far the response has been good, and Snapchat will continue to be important to showcase our environment and everything that happens on campus. We want to build relationships early with our stakeholders, and so it is important to adopt new media channels, like Snapchat, Syrrist-Leite said.
