Advanced Microeconomics

Introduction

The aim of the course is to give the students an understanding of graduate microeconomic theory at a level expected among Ph.D students in economics, finance and related disciplines.

Course structure:
The course will be taught over 8 weeks, with 2*2hours lectures the first 7 weeks, and one two hour lecture in the last week. There will be also 2 three hour long practice sessions, where the students will solve problem sets/present solutions to problem sets.

Students are required to participate in class – both in discussions and by presenting models/material from the reading lists.

Course content

Part 1: Individual decision making and choice under uncertainty.

Part 2: Game theory.

Part 3: General equilibrium

Part 4: Contract theory and mechanism design.
