BI International Case Competition 2019

BI International Case Competition 2019 invites prestigious schools from all over the world to compete in solving a real business case, provided by one of our strategic partners.

ACCOMMODATION

BI has booked hotel accommodation for all teams and advisors at Thon Hotel Storo during BIICC. Thon Hotel Storo is located near BI’s campus in Oslo. If someone wants to extend their stay in Oslo and want to stay in Thon Hotel Storo, please contact Helene Karlsen, storo.kongress@olavthon.no. Be aware that these extra costs must be covered by your credit card.

Airport Express Train / Airbus shuttle
The nearest train stop is Oslo S. The nearest Airbus stop is Storo. Please contact the reception for departure times and directions.

Bank
The nearest ATM is located at Storo Storsenter.

Bar
The hotel bar is located at the ground floor.

Check-in
Rooms are normally available from 3.00 PM.

Check-out
The rooms are available until 12.00 noon on your day of departure. On Sundays we offer late check-out until 6 PM. Late check-out must be arranged with the reception and is subject to availability.

Currency
The hotel does not accept foreign currency. Please contact the reception for directions to the nearest exchange office.

Internet
A wireless network is available throughout the hotel. A guest-PC is available in the reception area.

Key card system
The door to your room remains unlocked for 60 seconds after you close it. We recommend overriding this by using your key card to lock the door instantaneously when you leave the room.

Laundry/ Dry cleaning
For same-day laundry and dry cleaning service, please deliver your clothes in the reception by 9.00 AM, and they will be returned the same day. The service is not available at weekends and public holidays. The price list is inside the wardrobe.

Luggage storage
A luggage storage room is located in the lobby.

Safe
We recommend you to deposit your valuables in the hotel safe when you leave your room. Kindly contact the reception for assistance.

Smoking
Smoking is not allowed in the hotel. Please be advised that we will charge you for the cost of cleaning if you smoke in a non-smoking room.

TV
The hotel has a wide selection of TV channels. All TVs are equipped with Google Cromecast, where you can use streaming services such as Netflix and Spotify by mirroring your mobile or tablet.

ARRIVAL SERVICES

BI will arrange arrival service sponsored by BMW for all teams. Please inform your buddy of your arrival flight and time and we will make sure to meet you at Oslo Airport Gardermoen and transport you to the hotel. 

BUSINESS HOURS

Shops and supermarkets normally open between 8am and 10am. The majority of the stores are open until 9pm, with some open until 11pm. The majority of banks are open between 9am – 3pm. On weekends, stores have limited opening hours. They are normally open for business between 10am – 7pm on Saturdays. On Sundays most shops are closed.

CURRENCY

The official currency in Norway is the Norwegian Krone (NOK). Norges Bank lists the exchange rate of some 40 different currencies.

ATMs are available within walking distance in all parts of Oslo. Most Norwegians use debit/credit cards for their daily transactions, and all of the major credit card services are widely accepted. 

DEPARTURE

Teams are free to leave Oslo any time Friday 15th February, but please note that the chack-out time at the hotel is 12.00 noon. The nearest airport express train stop is Oslo S. The nearest Airport bus stop is Storo. Please contact the reception for departure times and directions. 

ELECTRICITY

Norway uses the Europlug (Type C & F), which has two round pins. Norway operates on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz. Please check which socket adapter/transformer you need to safely use your electrical devices in Norway.

MAPS

We recommend you use a map application, e.g. Google Maps, to navigate your way around Oslo. To find your way around BI’s campus, we advise you to use MazeMap, an interactive map of the school. 

TIME ZONE

Norway and Oslo are located in the Central European time zone region - GMT +1. 

WEATHER

Norway is rich in winter culture. The winters can be long and cold and Oslo is no exception. In February 2018, the average temperature of the capital was -4,1 degree Celsius. The lowest temperature registered in February 2018 was -15,9 degrees.

Make sure you bring warm clothes, as it will make your stay more comfortable. In addition, the chance of snow is high, so good footwear is crucial to stay dry and warm. For an updated weather forecast for Oslo, we recommend Yr.
